Custom Sportswear MOQ Explained

If you've never ordered custom-manufactured apparel before, "MOQ" — minimum order quantity — is probably the first thing that trips you up. Here's what it actually means and how to plan your order around it.

What MOQ Means

MOQ is the smallest quantity a manufacturer will produce in a single run. It's not arbitrary — it's tied to how custom manufacturing actually works: fabric is bought by the roll, cutting patterns are set up per style, and printing/embroidery setup has a fixed cost regardless of whether you order 10 units or 500. Below a certain quantity, production simply isn't efficient for either side.

Why It Varies by Product

MOQ isn't the same across every category. A single-color hoodie run has a lower MOQ than a full sublimated team kit, because sublimation printing requires more setup per design. That's why our team kits have a "per team set" minimum (built around a typical roster size) rather than a flat unit count.

Planning Around MOQ as a Smaller Team or Club

If your exact need falls under the MOQ for a product, a few options usually work: combine multiple size/color variations into one order to hit the minimum, order slightly more than you need now to cover next season's new players, or check whether a simpler print method (which typically has a lower MOQ) fits your design.
